Teenage Room Ideas For Small Rooms

Michael asks…

Teenage Room Redecorating!?

Okay, I have decided that I want to paint the walls white and add accent colours with pillows, bedspread, rug and picture frames.

My problem is that I have plaid curtains that my nanny made me a couple of years ago. I still like them and do not want to offend her by taking them down (they were really expensive). Also, I do not want plaid bedspread.

Another issue is space. My room is small with almost no storage. I need a spot for my bed, clothes, computer. I have an aqkwardly shaped room. It is a square but then where the door is it is diagonal and then straight then my closet.

What can I do?! Help please!!

Accent colours: Teal, Periwinkle, Pink, Red, Orange, Turqiouse, Blue, Green, Chocolate Brown, Maybe purple.

Wall: White (ceiling) (light hardwood)

Curtains: (Cream, Green, Pink, Light Brown, Toape.

Bed will be main focus. Right now I have an ugly fan, so I need lighting ideas too.

Please help! Thanks!
I need pics of bedspreads, lighting, rugs, window treatments (if something could be done to my current curtains to make them match the room better) and everything.

Also need a new CORNER desk!!
Pics of that too!

Thanks!
OH!
And it all has to be under $400.

Maybe even A LOT less.

HAS TO BE VERY AFFORDABLE!

THINGS TO MAKE A TEENAGE GURLS ROOM AWESOMe! My daughter needs help?

My daughter wants to redecorate her room, but she's having trouble deciding on ANYTHING!
All she knows for sure is she wants to like it for a loong time and she wants a bright yellow bean bag chair she found. It's the color of a rain jacket.

So any ideas on anything would be super helpful. She's never actually enjoyed her room so Id reaally like her to have a space she can enjoy!
She needs a new bed too AND SPACE SAVING TIPS!!! she has toons of crap in her small room with no where to put it.

admin answers:

I am remodling my room. I am 14 years old. I have a bean bag chair thats the color of a rain coat too that I just bought! I have picked ver colorful paint options. Like light purples the color name is blueberry popever. I also have a beige/green sort of color and a light carribean color. I colored my door and trimming white. Also another way to go is you could paint the walls a bright redish pink color and on a small wall have horizontal light brown and white or black stripes. Them accesorize with black, white, and many other colors. Yellow would go good with that theme. I built a platform for my room like the one on the disney channel show good luck charlie in teddy's room. I found instructions on youtube. Hope this helps :)

Maria asks…

What are some good ideas for a teenage bedroom?

Its a very small room but has lots of light shining into it

admin answers:

I also have a small room

instead of worrying about making space for things make use of the walls, paint them light colours since you have alot of light. Put up wall stickers of some kind.

Arrange the room so you have the most free space in one spot, it will make the room look bigger.

Have a feature wall of your favourite colour and have a main decoration on that wall.

Also make sure you keep your room tidy, because clutter makes it looked crammed and small.

Hope i helped

Nancy asks…

cool ideas for my room?

I'm a teenage boy, and I have a small room that I want to make as a cool hangout for me and my friends. I want to put in stuff like a jukebox, beanbag chairs etc. Ideas?

admin answers:

I have an idea: Buy a couch that turns into a bed so you can use it to sleep on, but when your friends come over, you can turn it into a couch. I found one at target. Just search Room Essentials Futon

Ideas For A Teenage Girl Room

Mandy asks…

Teenage Girl Room Ideas?

I have a square room, with lots of wall space and a big window. I have no color on the walls because I just moved here.. and there isn't anything "girly" about my room. I have a small walk-in closet, so storage space is an optional idea. I really like colors and am looking for something mature but colorful, casual and comfy. :) Im 16, live in Cali and like to be girly. :) I am a cheerleader. I am in need of like a total new look! Thanks in Advance! :)
P.S. I am open to any ideas! :)

admin answers:

I'm 16 and have been wanting to redecorate too. My room is really bright...I have a lot of bright colors that seem a bit young, so I like these ideas. Maybe you can use them if you like them. :)

Vintage Room: Get the vintage going! Old-timey mirrors and a little vanity, with a bedspread that is like paisley or grown-up princess like. Check out these links: (hope they work!) I just think that victorian style rooms or stuff out of Pride and Prejudice for teens is so cute. Just get those off-whites and subtles pinks going.

http://www.thestudentroom.co.uk/showthre…

(scroll down on the website above for a good pic)

I also love it when there are flower, and lace themes.

I have a room with deep pink walls and bright yellow walls. I have these in wall shelf's that inside I painted a lime green, and my door too with a light pink peace sign made out of hand prints. I have a pink silk bed spread, but I want one that is bright with a pretty flower pattern on it, with silk sheets. Mini fuzzy carpets, big bright chairs, and cute pictures of flowers or exotic animals are cool. You can pick things with close prints for an example. You have Your door, mini carpet, pillows and lamp zebra, or some kind of print.

Look into Indie type stuff to because its unique and pretty.

Ruth asks…

Any ideas for a teenage girl room?

Im a teenage girl and my room is blue right now. I am looking to make my room fun, but yet mature. I don't want to look back on my room and think I could have done something else. I am laid back but, nothing boring or too simple. I was thinking of light pink walls with a chandelier.....but i don't know what else I would put in the room. I like zebra print, flowers, and any unique ideas. I need ideas for a theme, beds, comforters ...so pretty much the whole room. Give me all your ideas.....Please helppp!

admin answers:

Find a theme first that grabs you and then work from there: Hawaiian themes are fun and colorful, turning your room into an exotic retreat. Or, a Parisian theme, for more of a chic feel, with things such as a bistro table, the chandelier you would like, you can find a lot of decorating accents (try not to fall into the typical cliche of what Americans feel like Paris should look like, though, and get inspired by actual photos, movies, etc. For a more interesting look). Or, your theme could be a favorite color, and you would use it as a starting point to create your room. You can go vintage, and challenge yourself to only using recycled items from garage sales, etc. You will be amazed at what you can find!
I would actually recommend using the colors on the walls if you are going to paint yourself (with your parents maybe?), because that is a very cost effective way of bringing color in a room and it's inexpensive to change (again, when you do it yourself). Choose your paint wisely, though, keep in mind it always look stronger on the walls than on the paint chip!
I hope you have fun with your project!

Donna asks…

Room color ideas for teenage girl?

I don't like bright colors all that much. I was thinking a beige but would that look too old fashion? My bedspread is a pale lime green. But the walls don't need to match that.

admin answers:

If you don't like bright colors, then beige is a perfect solution for the walls. But you can add bright colors in accent pieces like pillows, wall art etc. You can find modern pillows in different colors, like purple, blue, pink and even brown or black and play with them. Some of the pillows may have designs in two colors. Like lime green and blue and beige and purple. The beige and lime green in the pillows will tie everything together.

Chris asks…

Room Ideas for teenage girl?

Hey there

I just moved and the time has come to redo my room. I want it to be fun, colorful, and reflects my personal style. I'm pretty laid back, preppy, not super conservative. I usually wear a pink polo, skinny jeans, and either flats or DC shoes. I'm bubbly and fun and I want a room to reflect that!

I want either a picture of a room or design you think I might want, or some good ideas to get me started!

thanks tons

Girls Room Painting Techniques

Charles asks…

Did she want to be/was she expecting a kiss?

I usually do this thing when im joking around/flirting with girls where after they do or say something worthy of commenting on i stop talking and just stare at them. It works best when theyre doing something already (like on computer, painting, etc). after a while they realize im staring.. a quick glance up to see, look down, a longer glance up, look down.. until we're holding eye contact. i hold it for about 3 or seconds and then laugh or something to break the tension. its just fun to do

the other day i was in this girl's room. im not sure if she likes me because she's been "talking" to some guy but at the same time has hooked up with others b4. So anyway i do my technique on her but while she's doing the glance up & look down, she's like biting her bottom lower lip with a slight smile on her face. so basically after she stopped looking down, her head was angled so that she was looking up at me. we were close enough for a kiss but idk i wasnt sure so i just broke the tension with a laugh.
damn lol... hopefully im not in the friend zone

admin answers:

She might've been. Ur 'technique' does give of the impression that u want to kiss her so she probably thought it was ok for her to do that. Or she wasnt expecting a kiss and was just flirting with u. Either way from what u wrote she was being more than friendly :3

Richard asks…

what about these three to continue the laughter did they ?

Texan Poetry

The finals of the National Poetry Contest last year came down to two finalists. One was a San Francisco State University graduate from an upper-crust family; well-bred, well-connected and all that goes with it. The other finalist was a redneck from Texas A & M. Go figure.

The rules of the contest required each finalist to compose a four-line poem in one minute or less, and the poem had to contain the word “Timbuktu.”

The San Francisco State graduate went first. About thirty seconds after the clock started he jumped up and recited the following poem:

“'Slowly across the desert sand

Trekked the dusty caravan.

Men on camels, two by two

Destination -- Timbuktu.”

The audience went wild! How, they wondered if the redneck could top that?! The clock started again and the redneck sat in silent thought. Finally, in the last few seconds, he jumped and recited:

“Tim and me, a-huntin' went.

Met three whores in a pop-up tent.

They was three, we was two,

So I bucked one and Timbuktu”

A Freshmans Guide to Bra Removal

OBJECTIVE

To disengage said bra without looking like an idiot.

WHAT YOU NEED

1) Girl with bra

2) Two functional hands

3) Common Sense

TECHNIQUES

1) THE HOUDINI HUG -- Using sleight-of-hand, place arms around girl and unhook bra. Try to refrain from saying, "Ta-da!"

2) MCGYVER'S OFF-THE-SHOULDER SLIDE -- An alternative method to use after ten minutes of unsuccessful hugging.

3) HILTON'S LAST RESORT -- Beg like a dog and learn to absorb the harsh sound of wicked laughter.

DO NOT USE: scissors, blowtorch, pliers, wire strippers, cutlery, Black Magic, staple remover, chainsaw, brute strength, CB4, set of lock picks, or chisel and hammer.

WARNING: When removing a bra you should not say the following:

1) "I really want to thank you for this."

2) "Dammit! I thought they were bigger."

3) "Do you have any cereal?"

Signs You Have a Hangover

You're convinced that chirping birds are Satan's pets.

Trying to gain control of the situation, you continue to tell your room to "stay still."

Looking at yourself in the mirror induces the same reaction as chugging a glass of fresh paint.

You'd rather have a pencil jammed up your nose than be exposed to sunlight.

You set aside an entire morning to spend some quality time with your toilet.

You replace the traditional praying on your knees with the more feasible praying in a fetal position.

The bathroom reminds you of a carnival barker shouting, "Step right up and give it whirl!"

All day long your motto is, "Never again."

You could purchase a new bike just by recycling the bottles around your bed.

Your natural response to "Good morning," is "Shut up!"

Linda asks…

What should I do about this Dream!??!?!?!?

So I had this dream last night and I want to know what it means.

So it was one of those lucid dreams that felt real.

I warn you its extremely sexual and deviate.

I remember waking up in a pink heart shaped bed.

So my adventure started in a episode of Hannah Montana, all I can really remember about it was having hot passionate and quite disturbing sex with Miley Cyrus while her father stood over us and critiqued my every movement, still tonight I don't want to go to bed for the fear of Billy Ray Cyrus screaming "HARDER!".

Not to short after I rolled over and fell asleep in my dream, very odd I know, a dream inside of a dream. But in this dream it became even more abstract, I became sexually involved in a love circle with Minny and Mickey Mouse. Not long did I found out that Minny was actually a bio logically engineered version of Mickey wear make-up, just as they were both about to penetrate me in every orifice I awoke from my dream inside my dream ( I'm still dreaming). It was then I met a small very petite midget named Pete who had painted himself blue, he invited me to a party down in the local bar but I insisted I couldn't drink but he dragged me along anyway.

About 2 hours later I'm down at the bar getting hammered and I remembered seeing this insanely beautiful girl, I mustered up my courage and tampered over to her and asked her if she'd like to go get a room. She obliged. After a night of rigorous and painfully great sex I awoke in the morning; Clasped ever so tightly in the arms of a middle aged African American, as I felt his beard brush against my neck I jumped out of bed only to realize that I was now in knee deep marshmellow mix. The bed that was once in front of me began to change shape and morph into a colossal marshmellow shaped beast. He held out a golden rod shaped like a dildo, he gave me the task of penetrating and ending the rule the Evil Lord Gannonsmurf, it was then that I was transported 7 years back in time.

Just as I'm transported, I find myself in a marketsquare and I'm instantly besieged by Gannonsmurfs henchmen although they have superior fighting skills, I was able to fend them of and send them to the bowls of Hades with my golden dildo. I make a hasty getaway and retreat to an enormous mountain range just south of Gannonsmurfs great citadel; it is here I spend 3 years training with a secret tribe of tibetan monks who have mastered an art of Psycho-Molestation. It is with this power that I was able to single handedly destroy gannonsmurf and his legion of Hatchet wielding dwarfs.

At the Climax of the dream I'm standing over the sleeping form of Gannonsmurf as I am about to use my Psycho-Molestation techniques, the moonlight shines in through a nearby window and I realize that I notice this man. It's Pete from the Bar. It turns out Pete had went forward in time to stop me but the marshmellow beast had disguised himself has a enchanting woman to allure me and bestow upon me the tools of Petes demise. As this rush of knowledge hits me, I stare down at his body as I unleash the most graphic and unbelievable form of Sex Toy Foreplay on Pete. It was then dream ended.

I woke up in my neighbors house with a turkey baster and 3 dead bodies in the living room what should I do? I'm afraid I'll get in trouble!

admin answers:

Make your own bulletin board. Use fun fabrics and cool things. You can probably find ideas on Google. Also T-shirt pillows are fun. Get a sentimental T-shirt. Glue both sleeves and the neck with hot glue. Then stuff cotton up the bottom of the shirt. Fill completely and you will have a GREAT and cute pillow. :)

Try a textured feature wall in a nice deep blue. For the rest of your room maybe an aqua would look good. Also, you can accesorise to your own personal taste.
Blue is a relaxing colour and should make you feel happy and relaxed.
Have Fun!
Hope i helped.

Im just moving away i need help decorating my room (teen girl)?

I'm moving but i have no idea of what i should do to my room. My parents said i can do anything to it that i would like. I would like a theme if anyone knows one my rooms is medium size it has a balcony and it is by the ocean. By the way my favorite colors are lime green and blue.

admin answers:

Haha I just asked my little sister, she's 15 and she says you should definitely do something aquatic, because it is by the ocean and you like green and blue. You could paint a wave on your wall, or just paint your walls blue with green accents and little fish decorations.

I think that would be adorable

Girls Room Painting Games

Richard asks…

everyone! need help guys and girls! PLZ read! :)?

Backround of us:
Me: im a sophomore, and i play baseball. i have lots of friends (girls and guys).
Her: she is a senior, plays softball. lots of friends (guys and girls).

We met durring a practice and a mutual friend brought us together (that same friend told me she kinda liked me but not sure). within the first week we talked and got to know each other, but i suddenly stopped. so i thought oh well she must have lost interest. then the next week she came to a game of mine and then left without saying bye, but she txted me sayin i did good and she liked the hit i "got for her". and it took off. we would txt every night until 3am. but what i have noticed is that she doesnt respond fast. like she'll be in her room doing nothing, and she would respond 30min later. by then im sleeping. but some nights she just responds quickly.
We hung out one day, she wanted me to paint easter eggs with her, and i did. we kinda had some fun but i could only stay for an hr. but we skyped when i got home. i see her in school and we chat a couple times but not much. usually she wants to chat with her friends, so ill let her be and stuff. but sometimes when we see eachother we chat till we are at her class.
Before our games we want to hang out b4 we have to get dressed but never have yet. She wants to really bad but we keep having to reschedule. Im friends with pretty much the whole softball team and alot of them come up to me and ask me if i liked her / do we have a thing and all sorts of stuff, and they dont see us much so this gives me the thought she talks about me.
She has said she wants to kiss me and stuff (it'll be my first) just so i can have it. im fine with that. NO she isnt a whore or a slut. she is nice and outgoing. she wants me to visit her while she is working but i cant cuz im usually too buzy or my mom wont let me :/ but she totally understands it.

I want to ask her out, but not right now b.c we have only hung out twice and i feel like we need to hang out a couple more times before i do. But is she playing hard to get? i may seem like a dumbass but im just really inexperienced. Thanks for your help!

admin answers:

It seems to me like she likes you, dude. Good job getting the older women too haha.

Actually, it seems like you're in position to ask her out whenever you feel ready to. She texts you a lot, you talk a lot in person, and she has definitely is interested in you.

Look at it like this: A kid on the mound just threw a fat fastball right down the middle. You've got the ability to crush it. "Do you want to?" is the only question you have to answer. You've got this one in the bag, buddy. Good luck.

Hope this helps,

Underdog

Paul asks…

Now a question for all (especially the feminists).. Should men and women have different toilets?

I do not believe we need to distinguish between man and woman or any race or religion for that matter. It gets ingrained since childhood that a boy cant understand a girl and vice-versa. Boys and girls are made to play in different groups and different games (any boy taking upa so called 'girly game' is frowned upon.) When they grow up they are encouraged to take different interests sports for boys, fashion for girls... and list goes on and on. What happens at the end of the day is... Men always end up thinking 'Why cant a women be more like men?' (Same is true for women as well.) So if we dont distinguish dont paint a boy's rooms blue and a girl's room pink and encourage o intermingle and play I think the world would be a far better place to live in. I know many of you say what about when they reach puberty.Wont it be more hazardous..Well it parents can talk to children freely and openly about sex and responsibilities sucha situation would never arise I believe most people living on this earth are good and can think properly.Others would but they would anyway get into trouble even without it.
By the way I am a man.. but I like to think differently.

admin answers:

I feel like a kindergarton teacher here sometimes.....

Who ever said women wanted to be like men??? I certainly don't!

And yes, we should have seperate toilets. We have different anatomy, we are different, and we would like and are entitled to our privacy.

When men get periods and need to sit down to pee we can share ok!?!

Maria asks…

What's wrong with this?!?

I'm 23 years old, and married a 35 year old woman with a young daughter. I chose an older lady because girls my age just don't know what they want, and are more interested in cheating, head games, guy-hopping, and drama.

Anyway, the problem my wife and I have she wants us to have the same room, however, I prefer staying in the guess room. There, I can decorate it with my music posters, close the door and play the music that my wife hates, practice my electric guitar, stay up till whenever doing whatever...my personal space, my own personality. The master bedroom SHE sleeps in is painted and decorated in an effeminate and very conservative manner...it just doesn't feel like me.

I mean, we do things together all the time--it's just that at home, we have separate rooms. But for some reason, my wife continuously complains about this, saying a man and woman is supposed to have one room and sleep together, and that the guest room is only for when she finds lipstick on my collar and unexplained numbers in my pants pocket.

It's now at the point where when I went to visit my parents for a week and came back home, I found the walls to my room painted pink with Barbie wallpaper along the top of the wall. Even my bedsheets were replaced with Hannah Montana sheets. My wife was sitting there with this stupid grin on her face, saying, "Now both rooms look the same! So why not move your things over next door?"

I'm seriously irritated now...what is so wrong with separate bedrooms when you're married? It's not like we are on no speaking terms--I just want to have my own little space!
Chelsea: My dad would stay up all the time watching football games, so stuff it!
erchnic: You need to learn how to read. a) I said I ***VISTITED*** my parents for a week, not moved in with them. And b) she used the decoration to annoy me out of wanting to stay in the room, not because she's a fan of it herself. You're one of the crowd who suffers from BFTL: "Blab first, think later."

admin answers:

I agree that separate bedrooms can for some reasons. My husband and I both snore and keep each other awake at night. This isn't good for either of us, so while we spend a lot of time together, sleeping in the same bed just isn't possible.

In your situation, I believe your wife may be insecure. Since you are younger than her, she may feel that she cannot compete with the crowd your age. Have you discussed this with her? She may be too afraid to admit the insecurity.

Having your own space is sometimes needed in a marriage, being together all the time, in my opinion, isn't ideal. As humans, we are all unique and don't agree on everything. Retreating to your own space for a while helps you think things out. It seems to me that having this time alone makes for a stronger union because you can think and come to a compromise on differences.

Sit down and have a long talk with your wife. Make sure you re-assure her that she is the one you love and want to be with.

Good luck!

Chris asks…

Would it be a bad idea to stop by and visit this girl?

Im a shy guy and have always been shy aroung girls...anyway theres this girl that i know from hs but never really talked to...me and her go to the same college. i kinda wanna hang out with her cuz she seems cool and all...a while ago on facebook she told me her dorm room # and that i could stop by at anytime...i have asked her for her phone # on facebook so i can call her to let her know if im coming by...i have asked like 3 times and she hasnt given me her #...would it be a bad idea to just come by anyway and knock on her door without calling?
also i i added her on AIm but she hasnt IMed me back and I Imed her 2 times

admin answers:

No. It's obvious that you are stalking her now. You should have went by the first time she said it was okay, just to see if she really wanted you to come over or if she was being nice.

On the other hand, my friends call me & we make plans to stop by each other's home's or hang out over the weekend. However, we never end up doing it or even calling. Sometimes people get busy.

Richard asks…

Would it be too stalkerish to stop by and visit this girl?

U sound a bit stalkerish. Just let nothing happen for a while and then talk to her if u hav the same classes or something. That way she wont think u really are a stalker

Robert asks…

Im scared of kissing...?

So i am single, never have been in a relationship, never kissed or hooked up with anyone before and am a freshmen in college now. I have a friend who goes to the same school as me. We really only became friends senior year near the end but not good friends. We hung out in a group one time.

Anyways, he keeps on asking me to hang out and thats cool and all but he wants to come hang out in my dorm room. And i know him, he likes to hook up with people. And im worried he wants to hook up with me.

The problem is is that i have no experience and am kind of scared of just doing it. Is that normal? i am like really afraid of even the thought of kissing someone. And i also i am the 'old fashion' type of person who doesnt like the thought of random hookups. I like the idea of relationships. And i know he isnt looking for anything like that, hes looking for some girls to get with.

i dont know what to do. i keep on ignoring his requests to hang out for the past week. i was going to talk about it with my sister but i didnt think she would understand. i want to talk to someone but i feel like they would judge me.

thanks for any help at all. i know this isnt even really a question lol

admin answers:

It seems to me that there are two issues at stake here.

First, if you aren't into random hookups, you need to deal with your friend upfront instead of making excuses, because you're going to run out of those sooner or later. Just tell him straight up that you don't mind hanging out, but you don't feel comfortable having him up in your dorm room. If he asks why, tell him the truth. Your feelings are completely honorable and valid, and if he's any kind of friend at all, he'll respect that you aren't the kind of girl who is looking for someone to just hook up with.

Second, you don't have to be afraid of kissing. When it's with the right person and at a time when you're both comfortable and wanting it, it'll just kind of happen, and it won't be scary. And your experience level won't matter at that point, trust me. I've kissed guys with a lot more and a lot less experience than me, and some of the worst kisses I've had have been with the more experienced ones. Some of the best ones have been with the relative "newbies." :-) I think it all depends on your feelings for each other. I'm not just talking about lust or physical attraction, but how much you care about each other and respect one another.

Hope I helped!

Sandy asks…

any advice helps. 10 points to best?

10 points to best answer, any advice helps?
Alright, theres a girl who clearly likes me, exhibits all the signs (laughs at all my jokes, stares right into my eyes, remembers everything i say, asks me out to eat, invites me into her dorm room, says things like, "see those two over there? theyre in a relationship. isnt that nice?", lightly teases me and mimics me, and spills her heart out to me with secrets and touching me).

Well, i asked her out on a serious date, to dinner off campus, and she said yes. The next day, when i asked her where she wanted to go, she said i dont really mind, but is this just a friendly date or something more serious?

So i told her how i felt and she said that she wasnt really ready for a relationship cuz there's too much going on in her life and really couldnt handle any extra things. ( we're both freshman in college, and known each other about 2 weeks) and thanked me for being so cool about it, and never really said lets just be friends, we just started talking about other things. I mean she really doesnt have very many guy friends and all of them who i know really are of no threat.

So, we finished chatting and went back to our rooms and i thought the best idea would be to treat her as a close friend and not pressure her at all

But, is she just messing with me? i mean all the signs say she likes me and i like her, but is it just one of those things where i have to be patient, which i can be or is it futile.

admin answers:

She loves the idea of being in a relationship and the companionshp it brings but she's afraid to get into one right now. There's so much thats new in her life and she doesn't want any more changes. Just take things slowly.

Girls Rooms Decorating Ideas Teenage

Sandra asks…

Help! Need Decorating ideas!?

Okay, at our church we recently got a new preacher who wants the youth to be REALLY good. He has given us a room in the basement of our church to decorate and basically do whatever we want. Right now the youth is made up of about 8 girls ages 11-15 and two boys ages 12 and 16 who aren't really involved. So basically its a girls group. We meet today and we will be talking about what we might do with it. I need some ideas! We like bright colors, polka dots, stripes and lots of other things. Just need some tips/ideas that teenage girls would like! (: Thanks!

admin answers:

So its a basement? Dont make it feel like a basement. Bright colors is a great idea! Maybe pickiung out one wall that you want to be your accent wall and give it stripes or polka dots. For a group of teenage girls, you will want to have an area where you can just chill with your friends also maybe add an area where pple can have quiet time or whatever you guys do there. But keep on mind that maybe sometime down the road, guys MIGHT want to join too, so make sure to make it enjoyable for them too:) a ping pong table or a fuse ball table would be a neat something to have in there too.
Hope this helps!!:)

Mary asks…

Teenage bedroom ideas?

I'm a 13 year old girl, & I just changed rooms. I'm re-decorating, but I have NO idea what to do. Do you have any ideas? My old room was in the basement, and it was dark blue, so it was always dark and not very happy. I want something bright, fun, and uplifting. Also, not too childish. Thanks! (:

admin answers:

You could try an offset green like mint if you want fun and restful at the same time...

Green is the most common "favorite color". It is cool, restful, and easy on the eyes. Hospitals and detention facilities use green liberally to help residents relax. Green works well with most colors; in fact, depending on the exact shade, it can almost be considered a neutral. Its today's most popular decorating choice. Try hunter green in the office, soft, restful sage in the bedroom or bath, and neutral khaki in the living room.

Daniel asks…

I need decorating ideas...

I'm a teenage girl with a room that looks pretty boring... Which is totally not my style. I like cool, funky, retro stuff with neon lights and colors and... u get the point. But I have no clue how to make my room look like... MY room! My parents won't let me paint the walls or anything like that, so cheap decorating ideas would help a BUNCH and also, if u know of any websites that sell decorative cool stuff, those would help a lot too... Thanks so much!

admin answers:

If you can hang things on your wall to create an illusion that they have been painted, consider these techniques:

buy cheap flat sheets (Walmart for about $3 each) to hang tightly. If you can't find the exact color you want, use Ritt dye (from walmart or grocery store) to dye them. Hanging on one wall will create a great accent wall.

Paint poster board and cut into retro shapes of your choice and hang all over the wall.

Change your light bulb to a colored one(s) which will cast the color of the light onto your walls.

As for decor, I love the free stuff or next to free stuff you can find on craigslist. Look at the free stuff with a creative eye and imagine what it might look like after a can of spray paint or a few creative improvements.

My 16 yr. Old son recently brought home a metal lamp that extends over a couch with 5 lights coming out of it. He sanded the shiny brass finish down and will next be painting it a metallic blue to match our retro, sculpted carpet in our basement. It was found by him with a "for free" sign attatched while walking our dogs one evening.

Also, don't be afraid to advertise a retro wish list on craigslist.com either. I'd make sure it is ok with my parents first and maybe get their input on how to word it so that no one could tell that you weren't an adult etc.

Michael asks…
