Ruth asks…
What to get 3 little girls,1 Mom,& 2 brothers for Christmas?! Please help!?
The first one is 10. She is in LOVE with horses and all types of farms animals, Thats all i really know that she likes. Shes also sorta a girly girl. I'm not really sure what to get her for Christmas though besides a couple of novelties of horses but she has quite a lot. I was thinking of getting her a basket full of horse stuff to take care of a horse (because i heard her uncle had gotten one for her for christmas) or fill it up with posters and toys of horses?
The next one is 9- Shes mostly the girly one. She likes Hello Kitty and shes very prissy. Shes also very active and into skating. I was thinking about maybe a scooter for her, Would you suggest anything else? maybe something to decorate her room a pretty girlish way?
The other is 5- Shes getting a giant barbie house for christmas from her family and they said they're getting her all the dolls for it. so i was wondering what would you suggest i get her for this?! I'm sorta confused, because i don't want to buy her a doll because shes gonna get plenty of them. I was thinking about a giant doll that you can play with her hair and all that or a baby alive but i cant spend that much money.
My mom- My mom doesn't really have any interests in things, She mostly needs clothes and she also likes to relax. Any tips for this?!
My brothers; One plays video games and exercises A LOT (hes 18) and the other sits at home and plays on the computer (hes 21). I'm really confused on this one..
What would you suggest for all 3? I'm really confused... THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!

I suggest to buy dolls, and toys for the girls. Maybe Pink or Purple ones or Barbies and/or a Barbie Dollhouse with horses. You can buy her a Build-A-Bear if she is interested. Or maybe electronic games, Like a game PC for the older ones (Colorful, with sounds, etc..). As for your brother, There is just one answer : Video Games/Playstation/Wii/Xbox. You can get your older brother Music CD'S or a Suit. Finally you can get Clothes or Accessories (Necklaces, Jewelery, Watch, Sunglasses) for your mommy. I hope I helped. Have a great Holiday Season!

Could Boys, or Do Boys Like Unicorns?
I'm helping to design a baby's room with my friend, and well she doesn't know if it's a boy or a girl yet, and the cord is between it's legs, there for not being able to tell weather or not it's a boy or girl. Now the theme room colors are soft blue, lavender, and baby green. And she wants to use unicorns, and I support what she wants in the room, but she told me to find out if it's not appropriate for if it's a boy to have unicorn paintings in it's room. They are not "girly looking", mostly they are the black velvet with old fashion paints to bring out the strong horses, well unicorns.
My her baby's father is worried that it might make the baby grow up a little on the well gay side... and she and i are trying to make sense of this when he himself played with unicorn toys just like the dragons, knights, and castles, and he turned out perfectly straight.
So please give me your input, tell me what you think. Is it okay for her and i to decorate the baby's room with unicorns as well as the castle, dragons, and fairies. Almost like a mythical room, even if the baby turns out to be a boy? =)
Thanks =)
CS --> ... I'm not sure what she's thinking. But it's not like wall paper or anything permanent. The paint colors can always be painted over in white, and they've been living together in that house fir like 5 years now.. but I'm not sure why she picked the theme that she did, she just told me to find out if unicorns are appropriate for a boys room. =/ I think it's cute, but how she's doing it looks a little like over kill, and she's got to hurry because the baby will be here with in like 2 or 3 months.

Decorating the Nursery is like picking out the baby's clothing, stories and toys= We honestly believe that the baby is influenced by it but they are all purely created to appeal to the tastes of the caregivers. These tastes vary from culture to culture and century to century.....during the Victorian Age, a girl's room would have been blue, and a boy's room would have been Red and pink.
Meanwhile...The caregivers should only worry about keeping the kid warm, fed, clean, and feeling loved. I promise you, the baby could care less what is on the walls or what color it's blanket is!! You're going to have to redecorate when it's older anyways, like you said.
If the caregivers are scared that putting the wrong colors or images on the wall will turn the kid into some kind of sex deviant when it's older, It's my experience that those caregivers have demons of their own about their sexuality that they are yet to sort out.
My proposed solution is to keep the nursery as neutral and simple as possible.

Which monologue is better?
I have to do a comedic contemporary monologue and I was wondering which one seemed better to you? I can't decide.
BLACK THANG.
So I met the horses last night. Champ and Lucky Lady. You know, to pull my bridal carriage. So now is the time I find out that Omar's grandmother is deadly afraid of horses. Some childhood trauma she had when she was like two when her pet rabbits got trampled to death by a wild stallion. But you would think that after what, seventy-eight years she would have gotten over something like that. Right? I mean come on, she was raised on a farm. She eats fried chicken for Christ sakes. So they bring out Champ and Lucky Lady, you know the horses. And my grandmother-in-law-to-be. totally freaks out. I mean freaks out. I mean she starts banging her head screaming BUNNY BUNNY BUNNY! Which totally freaks out Lucky Lady who proceeds to take the biggest grossest shit I've ever seen right in front of us. I mean ten pounds of shit just drops out this horses ass. Just like that. And I'm like "Is this normal?" And apparently it is. So to hell with the horses, I'm renting a limo.
OMNIUM GATHERUM
Girl you have to see it. I mean it's big!...There I was, all by myself, you know, and I suddenly became aware of this kind of infinite chorus line reflection of me in every single mirror! I mean, I was just surrounded my ME hundreds of ME'S just sitting there. And well I started to feel so sorry, like I wanted to apologize but I didn't know to whom. I mean it's really less of a bathroom and more of a shrine to our own shit isn't it? I was down there and I thought of my mother and the little excursions we'd take to Bloomingdales. We'd go up to the eighth floor where there were these little mock rooms, all decorated to the hilt, and she'd oohh and ahhh, I mean this was way better than a trip to the museum for her, it was more like an archeological foray into white people's lives only you didn't have to make small talk and pretend you were cozy. See she wished that all that luxury could be mine one day 'cause that was a sign of real achievement to her. But for me hanging out in that ballroom you call a bathroom, well it just made me feel so far away from her and so far away from anything real -- look, no offense, Suzie, but don't you think having a gloriously appointed bathroom is the strangest barometer of fulfillment you could ever imagine.

Actually, both monologues seem a big confusing as I just read them now.
But I believe the second one seems more comedic and I would go with that one.

Sell or keep (20 characters -_-)?
I hope I've picked the right section for this question... This is more of a sentimental question than an art question, but I feel like it should go here.
Anyway, so I have this antique rocking horse that my mom bought at a garage sale many years ago, and ever since I was a little girl, I've loved it. Up until about 2 years ago it was falling apart and just plain dark brown wood, but I recently painted it and decorated it to the point where I personally feel like it looks really good and would be incredibly cute for a little girl's room.
Now I have some hoarderish tenancies, so I can't decide whether or not to keep it.
Pros:
I love it!
It's pretty special to me
I hand painted and decorated it.
Cons
I'm redoing my room and its very much NOT going to go with the new theme (western/rustic), so I would have to store it somewhere else
I think I could get $150-$200 for it
So any suggestions? Am I guessing too high on the prices I could get for it? Thanks in advance!
admin answers:
I think you should sell it and use the money to buy something else that would go with the theme of your room. Thats what I would do. =]
