Which fantasy story idea is better? Thank you :D?
I love the idea of a modern day kid thrust into a fantasy world they know nothing about. I also know that these may sound a little like other stories, but honestly I get bored and just make up these storys.
Here's the first one:
I was thinking maby a modern day 17 year old has his 2 closest friends over for a sleepover, and when they wake up, they open the bedroom door to a forest, the whole room was transported to this fantasy world. They get supplies from the room and go explore. On the way they find a abandoned baby dragon(? Not sure what creature I could use there) who bonds with the main character very closely(dragonrider?) They continue in the morning and eventually find a city/village/farm/traveler? (I'm thinking kind farmer?) But they soon find talents from a (trained from random guy/king/kings servant/super wise ex warrior?)(fighting, magic, etc?) they never knew they had. Some bad guy comes and kills the mentor so they get a group of people together and go off to stop the big bad guy who did tons of more evil stuff (deystroy city's or something super bad?). I also want to put in there somewhere some sort of ghost city full of zombies or something? Maby even put a women or 2 in the story for sone sort of romance in the story? I will tie God in there somewhere( he will probably be a big part).
Here is number two:
A kid(probably 17ish again) has kind of a rough life;(this is pretty much my story at the beginning here(all the family stuff, not the rest) is that bad or ok to do?). His oldest sister just is always grumpy, oldest brother does drugs, alcohol, he ODs and goes to rehab, other brother gets his gf pregnet...
Anyway (now it's made up) the very adventurous 17 year old guy gets offered by his best friend to go camPing, and the girl he likes happens to be there, so they set up next to eachother and decide to explore, they find a cave and when they exit, they are in the fantasy world. Probably similar to the other story. Any tips on how to improve? :D

I would say the first one but i would make it that the main character goes and finds a lever or a button that he's never seen before and she pushes/pulls it. I would also make the creature a griffen to make it sound original. Also I would make the kind farmer actually just acting and he's really actually bad and then make him capture them and they're waiting for the bad guys when the mentor comes and saves them but is killed saving them.
The second story sounds good too but you should make it to where when they get too the exit and they get out there is an avalanche and they are stuck there.
Hope I helped :)

I think both stories have potential. The entrance I would pick is the second cave one. Only I wouldn't use a dragon as that has been done many times recently. Not sure what creature you could do there, but I'll get back to you if I think of something. As for the family matter: it's okay to use your family experiences as that does shape your life, but make sure not to go too far into it or it will take away from the overall story. Email me if you want to talk more as I love imagining different stories (I just hate having to write them down).

Thanks and God bless! :D

I like the first one better but maybe if you mixed the two together? Like two different sides of one story. They start out how you have them but eventually they meet up! There's a few books like that, one i believe is called caution. Im not sure about the name but i think that's what it's called. But it would be cool if you mixed them and they work towards the same goal and that romantic stuff happens and whatever else you want in it.

Please don't take it personally, but both of these ideas are just awful. I cringed reading through the first one, especially. Just try to come up with something fresh and daydream more (and preferably not abut dragons). I think you have what it takes to come up with a better plot. Just please, scratch both of these and start new. Also, take a mary sue/gary sue test for your characters.
