Bedroom Decor Ideas On A Budget

Photobucket

Laura asks…

Decor ideas?

Moving into a new apartment in a few days. This is what I'm working with....When you walk in it's a hallway and along your left side is a shoulder high ledge that separates the kitchen from the hall. It is at most 6 inches wide. Probably half that, though. under it, is the left-side kitchen counter. The kitchen is very small about 7 by 7 and the counter makes a U shape around the standing space (if that makes sense.) The counters are light blue, but can be painted white. That's all I can do paint-wise. We aren't allowed to paint the walls or anything else. The floor is neutral. Appliances are white. Cabinets are brown but can be painted light blue or white to match counters.

I get the decorate the kitchen and the bedroom. My fiance gets the livingroom and bathroom.

There are no windows in the kitchen.
Any color scheme ideas? DIY decor ideas? I'm on a seriously small budget but want it to look nice.

Details, pictures, etc always win best answers:)

Kitchen Remodeling ideas

The kitchen is considered heart of a home. Paint your kitchen in perfect colors to make cooking a pleasure. Before choosing any shade when thinking about paint colors for kitchen, you should include cabinets and countertops in your plans . Stainless steel or granite counter top can upgrade a simple kitchen as they are hard wearing with low maintenance.

Anyone have good ideas for pictures and things that I can hang in my bedroom walls?

My bedroom's theme is a bit Middle Eastern, but the pictures I've been choosing for it don't have anything to do with the room's decor so I really don't mind the theme much. I also would really like a cool, original way in which to arrange them in my walls. I'm on a tight budget so I can't spend much.

The art work does not have to "match" to look nice in your room. The colors in the pictures, however, should blend with or complement the colors you've used for bedding, walls, floor covering, furniture, etc.

You could use wall sconces, mirrors, shelves, plates, etc. In with the pictures to make a focal arrangement.

If you're on a tight budget (aren't we all?) check out yard sales, thrift stores, consignment stores, etc. For bargains. You'll be surprised at what you can find for little $$.

When I have a lot of things to hang and I am concerned about where to place them, I trace the shapes out on brown paper and tape them to the wall. I keep arranging until I get it perfect, then I put the actual pieces up This takes time, but it has saved me many a nail-hole patch job.

Need help with bedroom decor?...I'm a lost cause?

So I need some help decorating my bedroom on a small budget. The room is virtually a blank canvas right now, so I have some options. It has carpet in a neutral colour that can go with anything, so no problems there. This is the bed I have (linked below) and so far the only sure piece of furniture going into the room. I was thinking of having a white chest of drawers like this but in white

I really don't want all black furniture but I love the bed and can't really afford to purchase a new one. Also, I need help with colors for the walls, I'm not a big fan of white walls but the trim and doors will stay white.

So...any ideas on furnishings and decorating?

and I also really need help finding a desk to go with it all.

David asks…

Any ideas for my bedroom theme? What do you think so far? (links included)?

My bedroom theme is nature. I have this stencil of a tree for my reading corner (in brown):

This bedspread:

http://www.beddingsets.com/asp/show_detail.asp?sku=BLL1316&PrChildQty_375799=1&refid=FR124-BLL1316-375799

And this carpet:

I have a loft bed so I thought I could use that as an advantage, from the upper view, just like in forests, there are trees and from the lower view there are flowers/grasses, so on the bottom I have bouquets of different types of wild flowers and on the top/walls to emphasize the top, have trees.

I'm really not sure what to do after that, what type of other decor can I get: On a $60 budget (for decor such as vases, false flowers, pillows, etc.) Please help!! Thx and bye! Ideas for a small-ish walk in closet would be good too!
Sorry if the carpet things kinda wierd, it's an area rug not carpet...typing error.
