Go to HGTV.com and look at some of the different designs they have.
Other than rag, and sponge painting, I have now seen at Wal Mart bubble wrap on paint rollers, also crumpled up plastic trash bags, and crumpbled brown paper bags.
Also Martha Stewart.com has some ideas. Good Luck

Stripes or polka dots are amazing!!
I think you should stick with two colors. Hot pink and sky blue are reallly cute or pink and orange.
Get a bed spread with a funky pattern incorporating any two of those colors! Then paint the walls ONE of those colors. No stripes or it will be overwhelming. Accent pillows with the opposite color (not the color of the wall) on the bed. Curtains same color as the pillows, and rug the same color as the pillows.
One HUGE picture on the wall that has the colors ur using.
Not too many pictures all over the wall, not too much junk.
Really funky lamp
Cool sofa.
Same dressers, but you can change the handels to something really modern!

Play around with the Sherwin Williams color visualizer to find colors that you like. It is the best paint visualizer on the web, imho. I like how their color palette is laid out, I like that you can search by color family & color name, the "painted" rooms look the most realistic, and it suggests coordinating color schemes. You can literally spend hours:

I think it would look cool to paint the room "blueblood" (# 6966) and "lighthearted pink" (# 6568). You could do stripes or diamonds or spots...
You can also take a photo of your house & upload it to the makeover gallery on this website:

You can get color suggestions & for $5 they'll photoshop them onto your room so that you can get an idea of what it will look like.

Decorating/Painting little girls room....Need suggestions????
I have this picture http://www.art.com/asp/sp-asp/_/PD--10073736/SP--B/IGID--674866/Reach_for_the_Stars.htm?sOrig=CRT&sOrigId=6598&ui=53CE1257353B4DC9878F6470B50EBD1D, it says "Shoot for the Stars". I would like to decorate her room around that. She is soon to be 4 and just got a "big girl" bed and is very excited about getting a new room. What kind of colors should I use (for paint, curtains, bedding, etc.)? I would also like to paint some kind of design on the wall around the closet. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

The walls would look great in a creamsicle color. Check this one out: Sherwin Williams "surprise amber" or "tangerine. A great trim color would be "chrysanthemum". Both these colors draw inspiration from your picture.
For the ceiling, I'd use a sky blue: "bewitching blue"
and for accent color: "indigo" (curtains, bedding, cushions, picture frames, lampshades, etc.)
You can paint a virtual bedroom on the Sherwin Williams site using this color scheme.
Ive seen some very cool lampshades that have star shapes cut out of them.
You could cut simple cloud shapes out of plywood or mdf, paint them creamy white, and suspend them at varying heights from the ceiling with narrow chain or wire. From beneath, it looks like 3-D cloudscape. Using metallic aluminum or silver color, paint several stars on the ceiling, partly concealed behind the "clouds". This gives a wonderful 3-D panorama effect from the perspective of a 4 year old, especially when she's lying in bed.
