Here are some links to some bedding. There is so much to pick from. I would try adding some brown to the green and pink. Good luck!

Lizzie asks…

My grandmother thinks my room is too masculine?

I'm a girl, age 15 and my room is purple and black. That sounds kinda gothic when I say that, but it's really not. My furniture is black, yes, but my walls are a really pretty lavender purple, I have curtains that are white with purple toppers, and all the accents in my room are either pink or purple (pink drawers, purple mirror, a pretty multicolored stained glass lamp, etc.) My grandmother on the other hand (I live with her rather than my parents), keeps trying to get me to change things in my room because she thinks it's masculine just because I happen to have black furniture. It's really not, but she is determined to make me change it. I don't want to redecorate my room because I like it, but everyday I find magazine clippings of pink, frilly, little girl rooms outside my door, or pictures of white and pink furniture, colorful bedspreads, etc. How can I convince her to leave my room alone?? It's my room, I like it, and I don't want to change it.
My room truly is not masculine. I don't particularly like all the frilly pink stuff that my grandmother would rather me have, but I do have a lot of color in my room (including quite a bit of pink) so it's not like my room is completely black! The only thing that actually is black is the few pieces of furniture.

She's dropping hints, but those aren't the actions of someone who's going to force you to change the room.

If she says "It's too masculine" again, just laugh it off and say...

"What? Mismatched, dull co lours, peeling band posters, dirty underpants and a smell that's developed it's own personality?...Why, Grandmother dearest!, I didn't know you spent so much time in boy's rooms!"

If she is still trying to convince you then you must be mature (I'm guessing you are from your post) and say..
"Look, I'm the one who spends my nights in here. I love it because it's my peaceful place. We can't all like the same things. I'll move out one day and even if you redecorate, you'll miss that this was MY room"
Tug on her heartstrings...

I know, I know,....I'm a granny manipulator, but I learned from the best....my own Gran, who lives with my family and I.

Richard asks…

Any ways to make my room better inexpensively?

My room is a bit of a little girl's room. I have a yellow bedspread with purple, pink, green, and blue flowers and butterflies, along with a matching canopy. I also have a matching rug and white sheer curtains with butterflies. What are ways to make my room look more like a teenage room for cheaper?

admin answers:

First off...What's your budget? If you've got about $50 or $100, you can stretch that pretty far, if you're smart about it.

Can you flip your bedspread over so that the butterflies are not showing? I understand you have shear curtains, are you allowed to dye them another colour? Maybe something that will contrast your butterflies or hide them.

The rug...it is a area rug or wall to wall carpet? If it's an area rug, get rid of it or throw some pillows on it to cover those butterflies.

Painting your room is always something that makes a big change, and you can do that by checking your local DYI store for miss-tints that are considerably cheaper.

Look for funky pieces of art or knick-knack stuff to add for creative effect. (check a goodwill, or salvation army) very fun stores for funky stuff.

Oh, and use mirrors to make your room feel larger and give dimension... Use mirrors on different walls to make the light and reflection to bounce off multiple times and angles.

Good luck! :D

William asks…

Where can I find curtains for my closet?

I'm a teenage girl looking for some curtains for my closet. They need to be heavy like an upholstery fabric and of course fun! The color scheme of my room is Sky Blue, Peachy Orange, Light Purple, and Lime Green. I really like polka-dots and stripes. I know you can't really search for that specifically on the internet but if you've seen something that fits this description in any way please send me a link or suggest a store I should check! Thanks! :)

admin answers:

I think you should choose just one or two of your bedroom colors and try to find a polka dot or a stripe with those two.
