Teenage Room Ideas For Small Rooms

Photobucket

Chris asks…

teenage room makeover help!?

My room is a bit on the medium-small size ( 11'8"x 18'11") with french doors, 2 windows, and built-in storage on one wall. It's currently painted a vibrant sky blue. I have a very nice 4 poster canopy bed.

My parents are letting me totally redo my room (new bed included) for a graduation gift (just graduated middle school) adn I have no idea what to do. We're getting the walls painted, but it can't be too dark a colour.

I have two different ideas for my room. I really love all of PBTeen's stuff, especially the beds, but I can't choose. and I also love the mature and modern new york high rise apartment atmosphere (like RHEUL, GillyHicks, and Abercrombie&Fitch) so i am completely stuck. I'm basically doing this on my own, my parents are just funding it. I need a lot of help here! I'm only 14!

I don't know hwat colours or anything, we went to home depot and I grabbed a bunch of colours that looked nice. PLEASE HELP ME!

Hgtv.com is a good site, try lowe's.com. They have a virtual painter that you can use to try hundreds of colors in sample rooms to find the colors you like most.

Teenage Decorating Room?!?!?!?

I am painting my room white because it is so small and it will look bigger. I want the main focus to be the bed so I need pics and suggestions for a cool, warm, colourful bedspread. Problem is my curtains are pink, green, cream and other shades of them. It may be the main attention so I need something that REALLY stands out.

I also need storage ideas. My closet is small and won't fit much. I need the storage to not stand out much though and be easy to hide.

My colours are white, red, hot pink, orange, yellow, purple, green and chocolate brown and blue.

I also need a new light, rug and CORNER desk so pics of them would really help.

NOW FOR THE IMPORTANT PART!!!!
Since my mom is paying, I can't spend much. Everything needs to be UNDER $300. And that is EVERYTHING. I am on a really tight budget and this room needs to be nice enough for me to grow up in for 5 or 6 years.

Please help me.

If your budget is only $300, then get some large shallow underbed containers in plastic for your off season clothes. This will really free up your closet space. You can also put cute hooks on the inside of the door to your room and hang scarves on one hook and use the other for your jacket or hoodie so clothes don't pile up.

I would get shelf brackets at a Home Depot and a can of spray paint to paint them. Then I would get wood cut to fit or pre-cut shelving so I would have lots of shelves for books, CD's, DVD's and collectibles. Much cheaper than a big bookcase unit. You can also get cheap baskets that folded tanks and cami's will fit in, as extra clothes storage, and put them on these shelves.

If you have a laptop vs. A full sized computer, I would get a 3/4" thick piece of plywood cut in a triangle shape to fit in the corner (mount it on shelf brackets underneath) to be a corner desk. Then do the same thing for two shelves up above for books and things. You can paint the wood and brackets in bright colors and use shallow baskets to hold papers and things on the desk top. Much, much cheaper than a ready made corner desk that sells for about $40 -$90 at least.

There are links to cute comforters and rugs below.

Have fun decorating!! : )

Robert asks…

What would be a good desk for a teenage girl?

I need it for school work, i'm 17 and i have a very small room and it's pretty much already FILLED with stuff, i'm sure we could find a way to put one in, but I need ideas, and like links to good ones in the price rages of about $100-200, but no more than that. Thanks!! Also, I checked Walmart and found some good ones, but I want your guys's thoughts. :)
