Robert asks…

Anybody have some suggestions for ideas on a color schemes for newborn baby rooms?

I'm trying to stay away from the ones that look like someone threw up all over the room. Something subtle, nice, and let's you know that it is a baby's room.

admin answers:

Go with a cool color harmony like analogous using blues, greens, violets, and yellows(use yellow sparingly, because the intense color tends to irritate babies' eyes and make them cry more. You can also go with a monochromatic color theme. Choose your favorite color and use all the highlights and shades of that color. Take out a color wheel and see the many possibilities with color harmonies (diad, triad, tetrad, monochromatic, achromatic, analogous, complimentary, split-complimentary)

*edit*
By the way, one of my students had a first hand experience with the effect of yellow on his newborn. He and his wife painted their children's room yellow and noted that they started crying more than they ever had. After doing some research on color and what it does, they found out that babies eyes aren't able to adjust well, especially when they are still developing, and so the color can be too much for them.

Chris asks…

Where is a store that sells decorations borders for baby rooms?

James asks…

Im travelling to the phils with my 3 mnth baby. R there baby rooms in the malls to feed baby & change nappies?

Also any advice on travelling with a baby in the philippines would be appreciated.

admin answers:

SM usually have baby changing stations in majority of their malls. Older malls more likely would not. So I would advice you to stick with SM Malls, Ayala Malls (Glorietta, TriNoMa, etc.) and majority of Robinsons Malls.

Also always bring tissues and sanitation, majority of restrooms will not have tissues, soaps, etc.

Also, hopefully you have a place to stay that has aircon and you will travel mostly in a aircon car because the heat can be unbearable and suffocating for a baby.
