Little Girl Bedroom Decorations

Photobucket

Ruth asks…

Is this a little to much for a 16 year olds bedroom?

If a 16 year old girl is wanting to re do her room (on her own paychecks) is it a little too much?

-32" Flat Screen
-New Paint
-New Shelving (Or refurbished)
-Area Rug
-New Bed frame along with new bedding
-Wall decorations (From target, the wall quotes etc.)

And some other things...if you walked into a teenagers room and saw all this, but was aware it was ALL her own money and none from her parents, would you think it was over the top, ridiculous? or a modern-classy-hard earned look?

And yes, for everyone who is going to make this comment, it IS me.
I bought the two different paint colors last night and finished early this morning..My boyfriend and I were planning on going TV hunting this weekend for some good deals hopefully..I just wanted to ask because I didn't know if I was going a little over the top or not. Thanks all for your input! Happy New Years!! (o:
All this luxury? It's called not blowing my money. I make a total of $223 (after taxes) every two weeks. I put $123 away of that money in my bank account.

Lets see...

Paint costs around $18.93
I already have shelving, I'm refurbishing them, sanding them down, and spray painting them my desired color. Thats a total of MAYBE $10 total.

I am also checking out local thrift stores, and good knock off deals, and craigslist for other items.

Just because I am 16, Sir, does not mean I am stupid with my money I work hard for..The only "Luxury" Item I stated was the Flat Screen, which is on sale for $349.00 at my local Best Buy, if you do the math, I use one complete pay check and take $126 or so out of my bank....

It's called managing your money, or, in other words, making a BUDGET, and sticking to it.
And accusing someone over the internet about being into Drug Delivery is extremely moronic of you, Mr.Gardner, and quite childish...

Where does a 16 yr old find a job that will pay for all this luxury??? Are you into drug delivery???

Michael asks…

Any bedroom decoration advice for me?

I'm bout to move in an house :D
the room i'm getting it's pretty dark i want to lighten it up a little & not make it so spooky looking.
i'm 20 & the colors of my bed sheets r kind of a dark purple with light purple flowers & looks like a silver design on it. kind of my theme n the room.
I just will like to know what color should i paint it that it will match?
i will like a rug to any color design too?
hmm idk what type of girl i am
i have on my wall poster of lennon, music notes, flowers, picture frames, Taylor Lautner, Dallas Mavericks & marilyn monroe & james dean poster. So its little bit of everything :)
please help remember i will like a light color.

admin answers:

Light lavender, or paint the room white and have one wall a bright colour as an accent wall. As for a rug, no matter how tempting it is to get white rugs to brighten a room, DON'T unless you plan to not live in there, LOL. They get dirty so fast. You said your bedding is purple, so I'd go with a colour that complements purple. Bright teal? A light lemon colour?

For a dark room, don't crowd the walls up with posters. They will make the room seem smaller and more crowded, thus darker.

David asks…

How can I create my perfect bedroom into a reality?

Of course money is the issue, but my main problem is that I can't mix my ideas together to blend in nicely. Like I'm s confused about the room colour, the furniture I would like, what type of flooring, and decorations even. I can't decide on a theme and have many ideas but can't mix them together. Like I wanted a purple bedroom but it doesn't match with the colour furniture I might like, plus I might want a little Asian feel in it, but at the same time a relaxed, cozy, and cutsy feeling. I don't want it to complicated, but simple yet elegant. I'm going to spend the rest of my life deciding. Can someone help me out here? Also I'm 19 year old girl.
As if I'm paying a million dollars on an interior designer.

Choose a color that is light and breezy as this type of color will match with any type of furniture, its only in case of dark paint that you will need to get customized furniture or order furniture according to color specifications, you can have a curtain that is a mix and match of bedroom and furniture colors, wood furniture goes along with almost any color, the main thing being that color is neutral like light brown, fawn, beige, light pinks or peaches or even lime and pastel colors

believe me there is no specific asian theme to give to your room and you can just add knick knacks to give your room an asian feel by getting an oriental rug, getting some nice chinese vases and laterns and such

being a girl,i would say you go for a nice carpet if you can afford one, if you have flooring such as laminate or marble, leave it at that and just add a colorful rug to make things more elegant, choose light pink or peach colors as they are good for girls and very decent too

get some nice throw pillows or cushions to get a comfy feel for your room
