Hey,

i got some great stuff off this site called twenga! It has loads of lovely litte things that can spice up your room, make it more fun and more personal. I also think a great idea is to do things yourself like make photo collages of all your friends and hang them up or take your favourite images from magazines and hang them up too! :)

anyway check out this site and best of luck !! :)

Laura asks…

How should I arrange and paint my girls' bedroom?

I am redecorating my little girls' bedroom. They are 3 and 5 years old. I am thinking at this point I want to paint the walls gray and then use a brighter pink and a yellow as the colors in the bedding/other decor. The molding/doors are white. The room gets a lot of light and has high vaulted ceilings. The girls currently have bunk beds. Here are my questions:

1) What shade of grey should I use? It would be helpful if you can give me the actual paint name from a place like Sherwin Williams
2) The room is pretty empty other than the bunk beds. How should I fill the space on the other side of the room and what should I do for decorations on the walls (there is a TON of wall space)?

admin answers:

1) Here is the gray that i think you should use: 0052 Pearl Gray. RGB Values are R:202, G:206, B: 197.

2) To fill in space on the other side of the room try a small reading corner so you can encourage your children to read. Buy a pink or yellow bean bag and a cute book shelf and maybe a rug for comfort. I recommmend using pottery barns product range.

Steven asks…

Can a little boy bedroom be white?

Hello,
I have an 8 years old girl & 4 years old boy. They are now in the same room but I would like to put them in a separate rooms when I move later. For now, I want to buy them shared bedroom with 2 twin beds and later I want to use the same beds for their future bedrooms. I like the white color for my daughter & I don't want to buy different Colors for the same room!! I am wondering if it is appropriate for a boy to have a white bed room ( with blue decorations!!)

admin answers:

You could do that, but honestly, kids' bedrooms get dirty - especially boys'.
The beds will also last longer stylewise, if you choose a wood finish - if you are going to invest in decent furniture, you want it to look decent in a guest room when the urchins are off to parts unknown.

Find a nice wood finish, preferably dark wood - white walls a refine.
Periwinkle (hydrangea) blue is a beautiful color that really pops against white, and can be more than appropriate for either a boy or a girl -- there are a lot of accessories with that color these days, which also helps. Look for the beds with the drawers underneath - they're worth their weight in gold!
THat also precludes the space under the bed from becoming the black hole where all the dirty dishes and laundry - and God knows what else- ends up.

White not only gets really dingey looking fairly quickly on furniture, but also will be sort of juvenile when they get to be teenagers - in about ten minutes. I wouldn't.

Beach Themed Bedroom for a Teenaged Girl?

I recently painted my room a pretty ocean blue. I love the beach and wanted my room to be beach themed. How can i decorate it for as little money as possible? I want it to feel really beachy like a surfy feeling like in the water. Also where can i buy the decorations? Oh also my room is VERY small so nothing big like a wall mural or anything and plz nothing from PBTeen because that is too expensive. I need very inexpensive things and maybe things that are from dollar strores or whatever. It can even be things that you can make, or things that you wouldn't think were decorations but you can actually use as decorations. You know when people use things they find and change a few things and it ends up really decorating or organizing their room. Anyway Thanks. :)

You can buy baskets of seashells at the dollar store. Leave them as is or spray paint them bright white or pretty metallic silver. Scatter them around or layer them in glass jars or vases. You can find great vases for next to nothing at a thrift store or garage sales.

Go to the pet section in WalMart and buy a piece of imitation coral from the aquarium section. If you don't like the color, spray paint it! Bright white looks very "designer". You can set it on a bookcase or end table.

Check you dollar store. Now is the time when they have their summer decorations. Be sure to look at all of their little knick knacks. I have found some terrific beach themed stuff!

Bamboo floor coverings or cotton rugs give a nice casual beach feel. I've seen the bamboo floor covers at Big Lots for not alot of money or check ebay.
