Girls Room Themes Ideas

Lisa asks…

room themes ideas anyone?

So I'm going into middle school and my Mom said that I could redo my room. I'm an 11 year old girl. Any room theme ideas?

Make your room a hang out place for you and your friends.

Add three curtain rods to your window. The first should be about two inches from the ceiling. Then the second should be about three inches down from the top one. Then the last one should be three inches down from that. Make each more narrow, (or closed).
On rod #1
Put long sheer curtains that pool onto the floor.
On rod #2
Add long varying widths of ribbon. (You can oversized paper clips to the ribbon and then add pictures or magazine clippings on these.)
On rod #3
Add another layer of sheer curtains. Cut these shorter than the top layer of sheers. You can then pull back the top layer to expose the ribbons ... Or keep them closed to add more privacy but still let all the natural light inside.

In the corner of the room add another aspect of the 'ribbon room' by making a art project. Take some plastic canvas and tie long ribbons onto it in every sqare hole. Add a fan to the corner... Facing the corner.. To create a ribbon tornodo. Put the fan on low or high to change the dramatic effect of the ribbons blowing in the wind.

Find a duvet cover that you like. Sew ribbons all over the side of the cover where it falls from the bed.... The ribbons should appear to be a 'skirt' from the edge of the bed to the floor. Make sure to cover some accent pillows with the same effect to complete the look.

You can dress up a rug the same way. The ribbons would be the fringe on the rug.

Use some plastic canvas to cover the top of your dresser and tie the ribbons to the edges to allow them to drape off the sides of the dresser.

Do the same to the edge of a lamp shade by hot glueing the ribbons.

You should paint your wall a light color like a blue or a green or yellow and get pictures and posters (that way if you out grow them you can just take them down) also don't paint you're room a black or purple or red because if may seem right to your personality now but later in life you could change. Since you don't know what you'll like in a couple years you can get stick on symbols that peel off. Like you can music notes and put them on your wall. Or at Lowes/Home-Depot you can get self-adhesive polka-dots that you can put on your wall as well.

Add color accents any way you want. You can get a cool bedspread set at a target or bed, bath, and beyond. Get cool pillows like frilly ones or in shape of animals.you can also get photo boxes at a local stationary/arts and craft store and use them for storage , if all you can find is just a one color box then you can add stickers to them to make them more you

another cool idea is get pictures of what you love{friends, animals, bands} and glue them to your bed headboard , or you can get a memo board and put quotes you like, pictures, and cards and that way you can replace anything if you don't like it.

Colors that go well together are: blues and browns/blacks- for a new age look
greens and browns/blacks -for an earthy tone
reds and whites- for a retro tone
pinks and yellows- girly look
yellows+greens+oranges- warm tones
tans+light greens= hippy look

if you want some posters or pictures try www.allposters.com
it's a really cool site that's where i get most of my pictures from.

I'm 16 and i just redid my room i chose a light green and i have my favorite rock band posters hanging up i have photo boxes that are black with stickers on them i also got some cool photography art that are pictures of people and just it's all black and white except for one object . They're really cool

i hoped this helped you and good luck with your new room

teen girl room theme ideas?

Hi! I'm looking to redo my room this summer and I really need ideas. I've looked on google for the longest time but I can't seem to find anything that fits me. I want more of a bohemian colored room but funky accessories. Any links you could give me would be great! Thanks!

You should go with a certain color scheme, (black and white, purple and brown, etc.) You need to pick out funky shaped pillows and decorate lamps and lights with some fabric. Make sure your room is not cluttered or it won't look good. Try and put the letters of your name on the wall or put pictures up of your hobbies, like a soccer ball, or pom-pom. Get some rugs to add some flair to the carpet. Hope this helps!
