What colours are best for a teenage room ?
hey :)
i'm a teenager and haven't had my room done since i was 10. I want an older room, but it sort of has too last my another 5 years until i go to uni. I'm getting new carpets and my walls repainted. I have a really small room, roughly 2.5m by 3m. I also probably will stick posters and photos and stuff up on the walls when there done. I also don't really like the idea of having white walls as i think they'll get dirty easily and i want it to be slightly darker when i sleep. I want a cosy, fun room. Any ideas on colours and stuff ?
Thank you :)

Hi,
Since you want a sort of a dark colour, you should go with olive green for the walls because it's not only a nice colour but it would also be very different because not too many peoples' walls are olive. And your carpet should be black, if that's possible, because that would go well with the olive wall. Otherwise you should go with a white carpet.

How to make a teenage room more sophisticated?
This is difficult as i am not allowed to change much!
I am getting a new bed and desk for my birthday and i want to know how to make it more mature?
i have lilac walls and lilac carpet which i am not allowed to change as i got it done last year! I have a white wall around my built in wardrobe but there is barely any wall there! i have a lilac, turquoise and silver border which i can't take off as it will rip the wall paper! I am getting a new bed which is white but it has to be single as i'm not allowed a new mattress! I have an extremely small room! I have a giant paris canvas, a small one and a medium eiffel tower one and i thought i could put the big one in the middle of my biggest wall and the other two beside it ? would that be mature? Because i have a bunk bed just now i am getting a low one which i think will make my room look smaller! I am getting a bed that has no sides so when i put it against the wall (no room to centre it) i will have a big gap against my feature wall below the border i am going ot put pictures of my friends and i! i have pink glittery see-through sequins curtains with white blinds so any ideas on curtains? i have a purple washing basket and a pink bin that says princess! it's done so i have an excuse so what sort of small bins? i have two shelves above my bed covered in pink fluffy things and pointless ornaments like ballet dancers and stuff! i have 3 sets of small grey plastic drawers and i have a unit with blue canvas drawers! I have a purple lamp a few signed photos, lots of certificates and medals, i have a half white board half cork is that mature? if i move a lot of pictures i will have tonnes of nail marks :o i have 3 piglet pictures my mum got not that long ago and she told me i can't get rid of them! I have like every blue nose friend, tonnes of turtle teddies and random teddies i can't bring myself to throw out, i have a few childish pillows that i can't throw out and i have lots of childish duvets which i can't throw out... i bought a basket of shells and two starfish (dried up) so from all that confusion any ideas on how to make it more grown up? i don't have a lot of money! help ? <3

REDECORATING teenage room. please please help...?
is it really that bad of an idea to paint a small room a dark color.
i am 17 and i painted, carpeted, and got new furniture for my room when i was about 12. i got new bedding about 2 yrs ago. i HATE HATE HATE my room. it is so small. and my room is painted a light purple. i hate it. and the carpet is supposed to be a purple-ish color too... but it doesnt match and looks bad. my room is crowded with a full sized bed, dresser, nightstand, and a mirror chest. (trying to convince parents to let me put the chest in storage because it makes my room look childish.) i want to make my room look more sophisticated and older. i just dont know what to do on a tight tight budget because my parents see nothing wrong with my room. i HATE IT WITH A PASSION. i was considering painting my room a darker purple to match part of my bedding. my room is small but i have 4 windows. is that a bad idea??? another idea is to buy a rug and put it over my carpet. i dont know. please help. suggestions...
i am not painting my room white because my furniture is white, the doors and trim are white, the top is white, and most of my bedding is white. that is too much white for 1 room.
thats why i was considering painting my room a darker purple to match my bedding and then put a white area rug on my carpet.
that RL Club navy is a little too dark for what i want

The good news is . . . If your room is small, you won't need a huge carpet in there to make a big difference . . . That's what I would do, buy an area rug that you LOVE- you won't even notice the dark purpley carpet anymore. Also, you could 'prime' your walls with a white paint, just to get it back to neutral, and then get fresh perspective to see what color you might want the second coat to be. You could do an accent wall, maybe the one behind the bed, in a dark color- I really wouldn't do the whole room dark, it'll look even smaller. A good dark color (if you like navy blue) is Ralph Lauren Club Navy, especially in Flat or Matte sheen. It looks really sophisticated. It is a navy blue, but it has purpely undertones. Another way to open up the space is to put your dresser in the closet? If it'll fit. Theoretically, if it's short enough, you could still hang half-height clothes (skirts, tee shirts, folded pants) etc over it.
As far as budget goes- a can of paint is $25-30, +$15-20 for primer . . . If you are willing to paint- they should go for that-
Do you love your bedding, tho? For < $100 you could get a new bed-in-a-bag set . . . If you find bedding you love, that might change how you feel about the whole room . . .
GOOD LUCK!

Try Ikea, Overstock, Pier1, or a warehouse store (BJs, Costco) for rugs . . .

Room ideas! I am a teenage boy who needs to decorate my room.?
I am 15 years old. Okay so i have a very, very small room. and in December i think it was, i got a new bed which is a queen sized, thats when i painted my room blue moved things around. I moved my dresser infront of the new bed and but my tv on top of it. My really old radio that my grandparents gaves that works but is very big, is on the ground next to my dresser. and the desk that i used to do my homework on is now basically just a table for me to put stuff on that i don't wanna throw away! what are some ways for me to make my room look cool? My bed takes up most of my room! what are some stuff that wold make it cool. Should i go to Ikea? what are some stuff there that would help? i don't have alot of clothes.

A simple, cheap thing you could do is to buy some shelfing to attach to the wall. I'd get maybe three or four rows going. You can put your TV on it, your radio and then go buy some nice matching baskets to put on the shelves to put your clothes in.. Which would work perfectly if you said that you didn't have much clothes and then that would eliminate your dresser and make more room! Just put the baskets on the higher shelves if you dont want people seeing them! I hope that helps!
