Trying to get a toddler into a big girl bed...Any ideas?
my daughter turns 2 on the 2nd of feb....we have organised her big girl room about 6 months ago....she has a queen size bed and we have done it up with butterflies (she loves butterflies)....she loves the room and wants to sleep there...every night she asks to sleep in the butterfly room.....however when i put her in i read her a story and then tell her its bed time she fiddles and walks about and refuses to sleep..i have tried staying in there with her with my back to her...(as seen on supernanny)..after an hour and half we give up and put her back in the nursery.....my son moved to his big boy bed at 19months and i had no drama...
please share your stories and give me any advise that you may think could be helpful
Why such a big bed you ask....firstly her room can accomadate it, and there is less of a chance of her falling out as she would sleep in the middle and can turn either side and still be on the bed. buying a single and changing later means i would have to double up $$$ wise......and she has the same as her big brother who had a Queen size bed at 19months.....
Also just to add.....she sleeps with Elmo and of course i have given her all of her comforters when going to bed...

Each time I moved one of my toddlers from cot to bed I did so while having both cot and bed in the same room....
Never had any problems... You might need to place the cot in the butterfly room... Let her sleep in the butterfly room in the bed she chooses for a while...
Make nap times a time when you and her lay down together on her big girls bed....
And I cant help but ask... How come you have a queens ize bed for an infant???

My daughter's furniture is white and the theme is Disney Princesses. I've also seen a lot of Tinkerbell, ballerinas, general princess stuff, Dora, etc.

Decorating toddler girl's room?
My family and I are buying a new house, and I was just looking for some ideas on ways to decorate my 2 years old daughter's bedroom that will last her a few more years than a fav cartoon character would. Any ideas?

For young children, I prefer picking a color scheme and then using accessories to change the look of the room. Stick to 3 or so colors that you and she like that go well together.
Find or make curtains and bedspread/pillows in fabric that fits your color scheme. Try to stay with theme-neutral patterns, like solids, stripes, checks and/or polka dots. (There are lots of fun "modern" or "retro" style fabrics out there that looks great in kids' rooms.)
Find some picture frames that you like...pictures on the wall can easily be switched out as her tastes change. You can frame magazine pictures, her own artwork, family photos, or purchased art.
As she gets older, her toys and belongings will provide lots of decoration and a sense of her personality. Maybe she'll collect teddy bears or become fascinated with flowers. Using color as the main "theme" right now will keep her room from looking too overdone and busy when her interests shine through.

Do you have any toddler or nursery room ideas?
Our first daughter's room had Looney toons as the theme making it not too girly. It's all ruined now though. She is now 2, and we got her the spongebob room set, complete with table and chairs, bed, and storage for her toys. The reason why we chose Spongebob over what she likes (disney princess or dora) is because we knew we were having another baby and the plan went by just in-case I will be having a boy. But, we just found out today that we are having another baby girl! I want to make the room more girly since my 2 year old girl is starting to become more into dress up, dolls, and the like.Do you think a butterfly theme for the nursery part of the room be a good idea? What are we going to d with the Spongebob furniture? Its all blue and yellow, and its not girly at all. Your suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

For your two year daughter's room you could paint the sponge bob furniture dark purple so nothing shows through and paint a pink heart on it or if you want to keep it you could tie medium-large pink bows on the legs. For a Disney Princess or Dora the Explorer theme I would use a disney princess or dora comforter, pink, white or purple pillow cases and paint the walls pink or light purple.
You daughters nursery, I like butterfly's other ideas:
Winnie the Pooh
Ballerina
Vintage
