Paint your walls dark blue

get a white or white and blue comforter (main colours on the bags)

get shopping bags from there - they are usually nice and thick cardboard almost with pictures of the models on them - cut out the front and back of the bags and frame them for wall decoration

also for other accessories go into the store and just really pay attention to if they have lamps or anything in the store and use that as inspiration

Robert asks…

What would you call this style of decor?

Think back to Sabrina the Teenage Witch-the style of her bedroom.

I mean of course that's a more teenager-y version

Seems like it was popular in the mid-nineties...and included lots of elements from different cultures...? Like Indian fabrics with Victorian style furniture, sun and moon wall decor and even modern items (like the lava lamps in the pic)
Need to find some inspiration for a friend who wants to do her house like that, and we're having a hard time finding inspiration rooms not knowing what to look for

Eclectic, although mostly that refers to a mixed collection of singularly valuable pieces.
If you want a room like that, go to PBTeen, (Pottery Barn Teen). They have good examples of themed rooms and rooms with eclectic (mixed) styles. Otherwise, make your own look by choosing individual things from different websites or E-ay and tie it together with a big antique-style or original/different bed, (like a french provincial all white bed or a cherry four-poster) and a cool quilt and rug!
PBteen site below, hope this helps! :D

Paul asks…

Bedroom ideas? Teenager?

Ok, so I am 15 and I am re-doing my bedroom with my best friend. It's our little "project." My walls are mint green, and I'd like to keep the color, however, I am willing to change it. My "theme" ideas are

1. Audrey Hepburn, classy, old-fashioned kind of Parisian style.

2. Nature themed, with forest inspiration.

3. Native American themed. Lots of geometric patterns, with warm colors such as oranges, yellows, reds, and browns. (I am Choctaw and would like to maybe incorporate some Choctaw items into my room.)

So, my question is, what theme do you think I should go with? I feel like the Audrey Hepburn style would be easiest, the nature theme would go well with my walls, and I feel like the Native American style is something that reflects my heritage, and is something that I enjoy. If you could provide ideas for wall color for each theme that would be awesome. I could also possibly paint my ceiling. Links to bedding sets, wall decor, and other basic items such as lams or etc. would be GREATLY appreciated. Please keep in mind that I have reptiles and fish in my room so nothing can be in there that could potentially harm them. (Even though can't really think of anything that could...) THANKS SOOOO MUCH!
I feel like the Audrey Hepburn theme would look REALLY weird with my Leopard Gecko's cages in my room...

I think you should go with #3 because you seem to be most interested in that theme! Maybe you could incorporate all three things? Search "Wall Decor" or "Wall decor stickers" on Ebay or Amazon.com That may give you some ideas? Hope this helps!

Sandy asks…

How to create a Tim Burton-style bedroom decorations?

I am trying to create a Tim Burton style bedroom. Kind of like a dark enchanted world type of feel. Like the garden in Coraline or Willy Wonka or Corpse Bride style. The room in a dark lavender. I have purchased some black vinyl to make interesting designs with. The basic inspiration for the room is something like:

The room is very large so I am trying to come up with interesting furniture or decor or even floor art that could really make the room feel right. Any thoughts?

What a neat idea! You could do so much with that. I would make sure to add some color not just blacks and grays. Maybe the lower part of the wall you can put stripes (Jack Skellington comes to mind) and the top half could be a solid color maybe a purple or turquoise and your designs over it. Also for the bottom design you can use a swirly pattern, or victorian pattern.

Sounds like a fun project :)
