Picture the gulf coast of Florida... Or go on an Internet search of pictures of the gulf coast.
Natures Color Palette: deep blue, aqua blue, turquoise blue, to represent water. Light sandy beige and medium sandy beige to represent all that sand, both dry and wet. Red, Violet, Lavender, Coral, Pink, etc... Represent the sunsets. White for the clouds.
Choose which color you would like for your room, your carpet is probably beige already... Maybe turquoise blue for the walls and a white bedspread with throw pillows of all the different colors. If you have multiple windows, use one color on each window by making simple paneled drapes. An easy way to make curtains is by using sheets (they are already hemmed), put up the curtain rod and use the clip on curtain rings.

First pick out the bedding. That will give you clues about paint and curtains.
