Select the color that you like, then select same color but one or two shades lighter (or darker).
Paint doors and woodwork first (white goes with everything)
After the woodwork is dry, use painters tape and tape around the woodwork - believe me this is annoying but it is worth it.
Paint the room in one of the shades.
Take the other shade pour a little in a dish of some kind
Take a stiff brush (does not have to be a good brush) or a sponge dip it in the paint and start painting over the top in sort of criss crosses, do not cover the first shade entirely. This gives the wall some depth
Just make sure that there is not a big difference in the two shades.
You can also experiment a little on a piece of wood - see what effect you like.
Good luck.
Oh yes, you do not need as much of the second shade as the first
I also find that doing the second shade fast comes out better
Susan asks…
What wall paint design should I have paint in my room?
I'm a 13 year girl and i wanna paint my room. I don't want to to just paint my whole room the same color. Nothing to complicated because I will be painting it myself but I want it to be different and really cool looking. Any ideas?

I'm 13 and my room is like Paris theme. You could do like each wall a different color like maybe really cute neon colors and some polka dots or stripes..or if you're really talented zebra stripes?:) Hope I helped!

Can't decide: painting a wall mural or putting up art in my bedroom...?
Okay, I've got some random bit of inspiration today and decided my room could use a bit of an update. The room was painted orange earlier this year (favourite color) and I already have a nice comforter (which I love) but there's one big wall in my room that I think deserves something.
I have two ideas: I could paint a mural (which i'd love to do, because I'm a giant fan of art), or I could use these 3 frames I bought a while back side-by-side and fill them with something.
My walls are orange, my bedroom furniture is a dark brownish/black, and my bedspread is plaid with the main color being hot pink, with white, orange and a bit of yellow.
So, the main questions here are:
- Which is your favourite: a hand painted mural or a few pictures?
- What are some cute murals for teenage girls? (that match with my bedroom scheme)
- What are good ideas to fill frames with: modern photos, painted photos..?
Thanks in advance for even bothering to read this novel hahaa, any answers accepted, peace and love to all of you guys (:

If you think you'd do a good job then i think you should definitely go for painting the mural
a good idea for a mural would be something urban
maybe a city scape, you could divide the wall in half
and make it day and night, like a mirror reflection
the night could have lots of stars(with glow in the dark paint)
and the daytime could be sunny with birds and stuff
yea, i'm kind of artsy

Well, go to Ikea. They have lots of stuff that you can choose from. Maybe like a beige or some nice color that is settle but loud. But think of some nice things that will accent your room. Like decorative plates, and stones. Candles will work, too. Basically all you need is good furniture, accents for your room, and a good color scheme.
